As well as locomotives and rolling stock, other light railway equipment is not neglected, as is a whole range of other machinery and equipment and equipment built over the years as the authors trace the history from inception in the late 1870’s, through to the final demise in 1961. Appendices list all the locomotives built, those that came into the works for attention of one sort or another, spare boilers and fireboxes supplied over the years, locomotives that have survived into preservation and a host of other statistical information. There is an enormous amount of genealogical information on the Bagnalls family and its antecedents, along with various other families entwined in the history of the company over the years. The text is accompanied by a comprehensive biography, list of sources and index.
